Nurturing, Improving and Measuring Emotional Intelligence

Emotional_Intelligence_in_the_Workplace.jpgThink back to your report cards from your days in elementary school compared to your report cards from high school or college.

You probably had a checkmark or an "X" in the box beside one or more of the following:

  • Plays well with others
  • Exercises self-control
  • Pays attention in class
  • Contributes to classroom discussions
  • Helpful
  • Participates in team activities appropriately
  • Exhibits no disruptive behavior
  • Follows instructions
  • Displays appropriate social skills
  • Respects the rights of others

Compare this to high school. Much less information is provided, usually nothing more than:

  • Grade
  • Credits earned
  • Name of teacher
  • Days absent
  • Times tardy

My clothes and boots, the floor of the car, parts of the dash, the ashtray and cup holders were all soaked with coffee.

Home_Software.jpgFor most a home is normally the most expensive purchase an individual or family will ever make. It also has the potential to impact happiness, lifestyle and stress levels of the buyer.

But buying or remodeling a home is the furthest thing from happiness for most people. We’ve all heard stories from someone going through these woes in the hope that things will be great once it’s done.
